2020 Square One Events:

August 11-13  Modeling with Masters of Mobility  – Virtual – View Flier

Arduino micro-controller technology provides the ability to fully customize science demonstration and data collection tools in a very affordable way.  Participants will be introduced to Arduino and sensor hardware and programming, will build a fully functioning data logger of their choice, and will discuss applications for a variety of classroom contexts.

Postponed – August 11  Huron Shores Ed Tech Conference – Alpena, MI

Join us in Northeast Michigan to learn more about Square One Programs and their applications in STEM classrooms.  Learn about other schools in the Northern Lower Peninsula and Upper Peninsula who have integrated Square One Programs into their STEM offerings both in class, and as extra curricular activities.

Postponed – August 20  Tivitz Math Strategy Game – Teacher Workshop – $50/team – SE Michigan

Tivitz is a unique math and strategy board game that supports students in improving their computational math skills while providing classroom teachers with a formative assessment tool. Teachers should attend in pairs, each pair leaves with a classroom set of 15 games (a $500 value). Limited to the first 10 schools that register.  To be held in SE Michigan, specific location TBD.  Thursday August 20th, 9 am – 12 pm.

Postponed – September 25-26  Underwater ROV Teacher Workshop – $200/team – Oak Park, MI

Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) engineering is a unique platform to teach applied science, engineering practices, and environmental studies. Teachers return to their classrooms with a fully functioning ROV to excite and engage students. Participants attend in teams of two or three, will receive all materials to build their own ROV, and will finish up the workshop with some friendly competition in the pool!

October 3rd IVD Kickoff Workshop – Virtual – Link to Kickoff Webinar Recording

Become a part of the Square One Education Network’s premiere signature series including Autonomous, Full Scale, Mini and V2X Innovative Vehicle Design (IVD).  IVD Programs provide an underlying competitive project to address NGSS Engineering Practices.

October 4-8  Intelligent Transportation Society (ITS) World Congress  – Virtual Event

Prior to COVID 19, we planned for our top Autonomous IVD Teams from across the country to compete in the National AIVD Finals at ITS World Congress.  Unfortunately, the World Congress has been declared a virtual event, so that will no longer be possible.  Instead, our top Autonomous IVD Teams will now face off at the ITS America annual meeting in Atlanta 2021.  Stay tuned for more information on that event.
