INNOVATIVE VEHICLE DESIGN 2011 Square One Network
Square One's "Signature Series" of projects enable high school students to incorporate innovation and envineering into their design of a wide variety of complex vehicles. This family of Innovative Vehicle Design projects provide students with a real-world, authentic learning opportunity.
IVD projects are co-sponsored, both financially and with engineering expertise, by an industry partner, the IVD programs spur healthy competition while demanding innovative design and building skills from today’s youth.
We encourage high school teachers to contact us to become a part of our network via the Signature Series!
All "land-based" competitions will be held at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, MI on May 5, 2012--please join us for a great day!
Innovative Vehicle Design - Full Scale
Teams of high school students work together over a 15 month period to design, engineer and build a fully functional one person vehicle. Each car must have a unique innovative component that sets it apart from its competitors.
Innovative Vehicle Design - Autonomous
Auto IVD revolved around a "Barbie Jeep" style vehicle, equipped with sensors and GPS equipment, programmed to perform a vairety of tasks autonomously with a connected vehicle theme.
Innovative Vehicle Design - Mini
Re-engineering of a gasoline powered radio-controlled vehicle to electric power while compiling research performance data is complex and engaging.
Innovative Vehicle Design - Underwater
Students incorporate physics into their design and construction of an underwater remotely operated vehicle capable of performing a variety of tasks. The Underwater IVD competition will be on Saturday, March 24 at Spring Lake Aquatic Center in Spring Lake, MI. We are accepting new teams now--contact Barb for details. barb@squareonenetwork.org
